Position: Comin Up - Counselor (Licensed) - Part-Time

Overview

The Comin’ Up Part‑Time Counselor will provide assessment, clinical counseling sessions, wrap‑around services, and administrative duties to support the program’s violence reduction initiatives for youth ages 12‑18.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical assessments to determine needs and risk factors, including mental health, delinquency, substance abuse, violence, trauma, and other Adverse Childhood Experiences.
  • Create and implement clinical treatment plans and conduct individual and group counseling, including CBT.
  • Coordinate wrap‑around services, conduct home and school visits, and provide crisis intervention.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and program accountability, including compliance with administrative policies.
  • Oversee interns and contractors, ensuring license and professional liability insurance remain in good standing.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies, report incidents, and maintain discipline within the facility.
  • Obtain and renew CPR and First Aid certification as required.
  • Support evening programming across multiple locations and manage related administrative tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to work scheduled program hours, including periodic evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Current licensure and professional liability insurance for malpractice.
  • Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; experience or certification preferred.
  • Positive role model with ability to work with at‑risk youth and maintain emotional control under pressure.
  • Proficiency with technology and software such as tablets, cloud‑based tools, and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Capability to provide one‑on‑one or group counseling/therapy.
  • Knowledge of community resources and effective organizational skills.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must pass agency background and drug screening and possess reliable transportation with valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual ability.
  • Management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with behavior modification and positive discipline techniques.
  • Knowledge or certification in Trauma‑Focused CBT, play therapy, or EMDR.
  • Familiarity with the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national or local).
