Overview
Medical Technician - GS-0645-07 at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos, TX. Fort Cavazos is a 214,968 acre Army installation located in Central Texas, approximately 60 miles north of Austin and 150 miles north of San Antonio. Responsibilities- Perform routine and complex laboratory tests, including STAT and routine hematology, coagulation, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, immunoassays, blood bank, and microbiology testing.
- Execute start‑up and shut‑down procedures for analytical instruments.
- Conduct daily quality‑control procedures to ensure system acceptability.
- Evaluate control data and confirm results are within acceptable norms.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Specialized
Experience:
One year of experience performing complex testing in a clinical laboratory and maintaining or troubleshooting equipment.
Education:
One full year of graduate‑level education in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
Combination of
Education and Experience:
A combined total of at least 100% based on experience and graduate semester hours (calculated as described).
Certification Requirement:
Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT), or equivalent, submitted with the application.
