The Patient Access Specialist primarily facilitates the patient registration flow and establishes positive relationships with patients/families. The role involves completing and presenting legal, ethical and compliance documents, explaining them thoroughly to patients. The position does not provide patient care but may be performed in a patient care area.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of healthcare experience in a physician office or hospital setting.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Understanding of the revenue cycle and all appropriate financial resources for patients.
• Knowledge of JCAHO, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, HIPAA, HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payers and all tasks performed in the various Patient Access Service areas.
• Detail oriented.
• Professional and clear communication.
• Working knowledge of computer skills.
• Basic understanding of insurance benefits especially in‑network versus out of network and co‑insurance versus co‑pay.
• Basic ability to balance cash reports.
• Basic understanding of legal paperwork.
• Basic typing/keyboarding.

• Monday to Friday: 3:00pm to 7:00pm
