SummaryThe Patient Access Specialist primarily facilitates the patient registration flow and establishes positive relationships with patients/families. The role involves completing and presenting legal, ethical and compliance documents, explaining them thoroughly to patients. The position does not provide patient care but may be performed in a patient care area.
Education & Experience- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of healthcare experience in a physician office or hospital setting.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Understanding of the revenue cycle and all appropriate financial resources for patients.
- Knowledge of JCAHO, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, HIPAA, HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payers and all tasks performed in the various Patient Access Service areas.
- Detail oriented.
- Professional and clear communication.
- Working knowledge of computer skills.
- Basic understanding of insurance benefits especially in‑network versus out of network and co‑insurance versus co‑pay.
- Basic ability to balance cash reports.
- Basic understanding of legal paperwork.
- Basic typing/keyboarding.
- Monday to Friday: 3:00pm to 7:00pm
