Position: NURSE SPECIALIST - NURSE FAMILY PARTNERSHIP - Public Health

Provide comprehensive community health nursing services to women and their families eligible for the Nurse Family Partnership (NFP), according to the guidelines of the NFP.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides home visits for women and families in the NFP Program.

Supports the guidelines and standards of the NFP Program and Public Health.

Promotes awareness of NFP throughout Tarrant County.

Develops and maintains community relations to support NFP referrals.

Completes all required NFP training and continuing education.

Assesses physical, emotional, social, and environmental needs of women and their families as they relate to the NFP guidelines.

Consults and collaborates with other professionals involved in providing services to women and their families.

Maintains a caseload of 25 active clients and fulfills reporting responsibilities.

Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Public Health Department as assigned or required.

TO APPLY

Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher + Two (2) full-time years of related work experience.

Must possess a current RN license.

Must possess a valid Driver License and a good driving record.

Experience with community, maternal, child health or mental and behavioral health is preferred.

Good knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of field of nursing.

Good communication and presentation skills.

Ability to make professional nursing decisions and operate autonomously under the NFP guidelines.

Bilingual preferred.

Flexible work availability is needed to facilitate home visits.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, drive, push and pull.
