Leading District Professional/ Athletic Trainer

- Provide training coverage for all athletic events.
- Administer first aid to injured athletes and solicit ambulances when required.
- Coordinate daily activities of the training room.
- Work under the supervision of the physician to coordinate the rehabilitation of the injured athlete.
- Apply protective and preventive devices for athletes.
- Maintain records, inventory, and budget allocations.
- Counsel and advise athletes and coaches on health matters.
- Supervise fittings of protective equipment.
- Conduct First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training for coaches.
- Supervise and instruct student athletic trainers.
- Assist and advise coaches on the purchase of protective athletic equipment.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of experience.
- Licensed as an Athletic Trainer by Texas Department of Health.
- Working knowledge of:
- the District’s policies, procedures, and regulations.
- basic principles of athletic training, kinesiology, physiology, nutrition, diet and first aid.
- general principles of supervision and training.
- community emergency medical resources.
- multicultural diversity issues in the workplace.
- interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Ability to:
- understand and carry out technical and other directions issued by physicians.
- read and interpret UIL and TEA bulletins and regulations.
- assume responsibility and exercise sound judgment.
- communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including principles of English and grammar usage.
- facilitate and conduct group meetings.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and climb stairs.
The employee must maintain emotional control under stress, and occasionally work prolonged and/or irregular hours. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The work environment is a standard office setting including standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone, computer, 10-key, etc.).
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
