Monitor internal firm finance and accounting functions in order to assist firm management and its stakeholders in making informed decisions as they manage the firm’s operations.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and process accounts payable, employee expense reports, cash control, and total firm payroll tax compliance.
  • Manage and process accounts receivable aging components including billing, cash receipts, etc.; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports.
  • Participate in the annual financial statement internal review.
  • Participate in the firm’s annual 401k plan audit.
  • Preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards.
  • Respond to Partners with accurate and timely work to facilitate their financial needs.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and develop a variety of special reports.
  • Communicate with co-workers, firm management, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Works in a demanding, deadline driven environment with a focus on details and accuracy.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Execution - Careful attention to detail, mindful of deadlines, clarity of thought in work papers
  • Subject Matter Expert - Demonstrates understanding of subject matter, seeks to increase knowledge in subject matter (industry, code and regulations, etc)
  • Technical Skills - Thorough understanding of business and individual tax return concepts (payroll, depreciation, accrual to cash, etc), thorough understanding of financial statement concepts (adjusting journal entries, bank recs, retained earnings, etc)
  • Communication Skills - Communicates clearly with clients and JTaylor personnel
  • Problem Solving - Demonstrates critical thinking skills, creativity in thought, addresses questions with a concise answer
  • Cultivation of Relationships - Seeks to develop and strengthen client relationships, develops and strengthens internal relationships
  • Intuition - Demonstrates the ability to provide quick and ready insight, leverages previous experience and education to answer questions
  • Initiative - Is a self-starter, actively looks for additional work, can function independently as appropriate
  • Self-Awareness - Mindful of their own strengths and weaknesses and how to best utilize these in a team environment
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience (preferably in public accounting or professional services)
  • Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Current and valid driver’s license
  • Proficient in Quick Books (QBO and Desktop)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in CCH Practice Management or CCH Axcess Practice

This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Additional hours as needed to meet deadlines.
