Job Summary: The Corporate Development Analyst plays a key role in evaluating, underwriting, and executing mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions across the lower 48. This position offers direct exposure to senior leadership and transaction decision making in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. The Analyst supports the full deal lifecycle from initial screening and underwriting through execution and post close analysis, requiring strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver senior level materials.
Responsibilities- Financial and Transaction Analysis (Primary Focus)
- Build and maintain detailed financial models for acquisitions and divestitures, including valuation, accretion and dilution, cash flow, and sensitivity analyses.
- Analyze transaction structures, purchase agreements, and key economic terms.
- Support transaction underwriting in coordination with reservoir engineering, operations, and finance teams.
- Deal Execution and Due Diligence
- Conduct market, asset, and company level diligence, including competitive benchmarking and strategic analysis.
- Support execution activities such as data room review, diligence tracking, and coordination with external advisors including banks, legal, and accounting.
- Assist with post transaction integration analysis and performance tracking as needed.
- Communication and Presentation
- Prepare investment committee materials, management presentations, and board level PowerPoint decks.
- Synthesize complex analyses into clear, decision-read insights for senior stakeholders.
- Technical and Analytical Skills (Most Important)
- Advanced Excel modeling capabilities including three statement models, valuation, and scenario analysis.
- Strong quantitative and analytical foundation with a high standard of accuracy and rigor.
- Transaction and Industry Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in a transaction-oriented environment such as investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or transaction advisory.
- Energy industry experience strongly preferred.
- Software and Tools
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong PowerPoint skills with experience producing senior and board level materials.
- Education and Professional Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
- Ability to manage multiple work streams under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
This is an in-office position based in Fort Worth, Tx. Remote is not eligible for this position.
