Sky Cam® is a leading designer, manufacturer and operator of mobile aerial camera systems that transform the way live sporting events are broadcast across NFL, NBA, NHL, and more.
Nature of WorkUnder general supervision, the main duty of the Rigger is to ensure the safe and effective deployment of the Sky Cam system through sound processes and operations and effective communication between the EIC, Technical Operations Manager, and Sky‑NOC.
Responsibilities- Act as a safety personnel on-site to crew regarding the safe and appropriate installation and rigging of Sky Cam systems.
- Interface directly with the EIC, TOM, NOC, and venue to confirm all safety efforts are followed as directed.
- Ensure the safe operation and temporary installation of Sky Cam systems.
- Take directions and execute plans regarding setup and operation of Sky Cam equipment.
- Work under the direction of the EIC, NOC & Technical Operations Manager regarding the safe deployment of the system and the maintenance and repair of the systems.
- Communicate all technical needs and irregular operations to the EIC, NOC and TOM.
- Document and deliver to Director of Operations all pictures and documentation of deployments as required.
- While on client job sites, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Equipment setup and operation.
- Handle safety meeting with local labor.
- Operate and correctly set up all rental equipment including generators, boom lifts, and UPS.
- Assist EIC in all operations.
- Climb towers, rooftops, and operate boom and aerial lifts as needed.
- Create a safe ground operation for all ground‑based equipment.
- Ensure safe rigging and interfaces for cable paths, flights, and rigging infrastructure.
- Provide safe operation of equipment (weather, equipment breakdowns, etc.).
- Provide clear communication to EIC at all times.
- Develop a greater understanding and leadership as it relates to Sky Cam operations.
- Participate and follow all safety schedules and protocols including Pre‑Flight, NOC, and flight parameters.
- Participate in various meetings as required, such as staff, operational, and organizational meetings.
- The noise in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Extensive domestic and international travel; must possess or be able to obtain a US Passport.
- Work in an extremely high-stress environment, fast-paced with multi-level distractions.
- Ability to work extended hours; nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Minimum
- High school diploma required.
- Generally, requires a minimum of one (2) years of progressively responsible experience in stage rigging, rope access, entertainment/aerial rigging, preferably in media, broadcasting, technical, engineering, or production industry.
- Proficient in the use of MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
- Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (AS or Technical School acceptable).
- Work through complex situations professionally.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with a strong work ethic.
- Skilled in the use of Boom/aerial lifts, climbing safety and protocols.
- SPRAT Certifications a plus.
- Electrically and mechanically inclined, proficient with hand tools and electrical test equipment.
Strong attention to detail. - Good analytical and creative skills.
- Strong communication skills and eagerness to collaborate with different people.
- Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment and open to innovative ideas.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
- Extensive domestic and international travel; must possess or be able to obtain a US Passport.
