OverviewPosition Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Operational Technology Engineer to lead the implementation and evolution of our industrial automation and data infrastructure. This role will lead a team of OT Engineers and work cross-functionally with Controls, IT, Cybersecurity, and Production teams to develop a secure, scalable, and high-availability OT ecosystem across a greenfield manufacturing facility. As we scale from a materials producer to a fully integrated manufacturer, Operational Technology (OT) will be central to unlocking real-time visibility, control, and optimization across our facilities.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in SCADA systems, data historians, OT networking, and industrial control integration—and pairs it with strong leadership experience to mentor, develop, and scale a high-performing engineering team. Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Operational Technology Engineers, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and project delivery timelines.
- Own resource planning, performance management, and technical development of OT staff.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, documentation standards, and change control procedures across all OT systems.
- Architect, implement, and maintain SCADA and HMI platforms (e.g.,Factory Talk View SE/ME, Siemens WinCC).
- Lead deployment and management of AVEVA PI (OSIsoft PI) for real-time data acquisition, historian, asset frameworks, and reporting.
- Oversee configuration and usage of Rockwell Asset Centre for asset management, version control, and audit tracking.
- Design and support robust, segmented OT network architectures, including VLANs, Layer 2/3 switches, firewalls, and secure routing strategies.
- Lead integration of field devices(PLCs, HMIs, sensors) into the OT environment using protocols such as Ether Net/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA/DA, MQTT.
- Ensure secure, reliable data transfer between
OT systems and IT platforms, including MES, ERP, and cloud services. - Drive execution of OT projects across the facility— from design to commissioning—ensuring high availability and cybersecurity compliance.
- Conduct and oversee FATs,SATs, installation, commissioning, and system tuning.
- Support failure analysis, continuous improvement, and system optimization initiatives for control and data systems.
- Prepare and review system documentation, including network diagrams, data flow maps,control narratives, configuration standards, and troubleshooting guides.
- Champion compliance with OT cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., ISA/IEC
62443, NIST CSF) in collaboration with IT and Security teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- 10 years of experience in OT and industrial automation systems, with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
- Strong proficiency in SCADA/HMI development, including Factory Talk View SE/ME and Siemens WinCC.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming and integration (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Proven expertise with industrial networks,including VLANs, managed switches, firewalls, and Layer 2/3 routing.
- Strong experience with data historians, particularly AVEVA PI (OSIsoft PI).
- Familiarity with Asset Management platforms like Rockwell Asset Centre .
- Deep understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ether Net/IP, OPC UA/DA, Modbus,MQTT).
- Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles and industrial security standards (ISA/IEC
62443, NIST).
- Experience with cloud integration, IIoT platforms, or edge computing
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., Nutanix, VMware,Hyper-V)
- Exposure to MES or ERP system integration.
- Ability to identify and solve problems and effectively communicate and advocate for these solutions to others (from operators to management).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Expert level user of Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience developing automated reports, dashboards, and KPIs using data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or others.
- Experience in working with data tables,structured datasets, and developing dashboards.
- Basic knowledge of statistics to analyze data trends and variability.
