Description
You will be the Signature Materials and Processes Engineer for the Signature Integration Team which is responsible for advancing the F‑22’s low‑observable (LO) material performance.
What You Will Be DoingAs the Signature Materials and Processes Engineer you will be responsible for delivering technical solutions that keep LO material effective throughout the aircraft’s life cycle.
Your responsibilities will include- Diagnose and resolve issues with LO material in production, depot, and operational environments.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure Signature Materials & Processes deliverables meet program requirements.
- Develop and revise training curricula and material‑process specifications for LO material systems.
- Partner with operational units, depots, flight‑test teams, and engineering disciplines to align SM&P decisions.
- Lead the creation and execution of qualification and evaluation test plans, and report results to leadership and customers.

Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, or other related technical field.
- Must be a US citizen or able to work in the US. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with one or more of the following techniques: surface preparation and bonding, mixing and application of adhesives, sealants, and sprayed materials, interpreting NDI (non‑destructive inspection) data, interpreting mechanical test data (lap shear, flatwise tensile, etc.), autoclave cure cycle evaluation, organic coating evaluation such as thickness or adhesion testing.
- Familiarity with Environmental, Safety and Health requirements. Knowledge of SDS (Safety Data Sheets).
- Familiarity with Serviceflo. Familiarity with Depot operations. Experience using hand tools (orbital sander, micrometer, hardness testing).
- Specification, engineering test plan, or other technical writing experience.
- Low Observables Materials familiarity desired.
- Experience with using or executing material evaluations with modern lab evaluation hardware including but not limited to: DSC, DMA, various forms of Spectroscopy, environmental/physical/mechanical test equipment.
- Applicant should be able to support customer and supplier interactions.
- Familiarity with procurement processes and practices.
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
