Position: NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER with Security Clearance
Duties The primary purpose of this position is:
To develop, modify and apply inspection techniques such as ultrasonic, eddy current, radiographic or liquid penetrant on parts, components or complete systems for which procedures/processes have not been developed. Trains reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein. DUTY 1:
Using the ultrasonic-eddy current processes, performs inspections of aircraft, engine, missile, ground support equipment, etc., parts and components, support equipment structural members, components, parts, and other materials for which inspection procedures and/or acceptability standards are inadequate or not available. DUTY 2:
Conducts industrial radiography (x-ray) tests on aircraft components and parts for which procedures/processes have not been developed. DUTY 3:
Ultrasonic eddy, current and magnaflux/zyglo inspection duties. Administers the Spectrometric Oil Analysis Program (SOAP). DUTY 4:
Utilizes safety practices and procedures and complies with security regulations, directives, and policies. Prepares effective training plans to maximize Reserve training. DUTY 5:
Certifies work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Must be a current member of the AF Reserve or willing/qualified to join
* A security clearance may be required
* This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
* This is a testing designated position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing.
* Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
* Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
* Employee must maintain current certifications
* Disclosure of Political Appointments
* Must be a current member of the AF Reserve or willing/qualified to join
* Incentive for prior work or active-duty experience to determine leave accrual may be authorized upon request.

* May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for WG-3700 Metal Processing Family.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-3700 Metal Processing Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of the position of Nondestructive Tester without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical orders relating to the electronics trade.
* Knowledge of and ability to use radiology systems, equipment or accessories. Knowledge of basic shop mathematics or handbook formulae to calculate basic values or specifications. Knowledge of safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations and technical orders.
* Ability to operate a computer. Ability to convert instructions into appropriate computer language(s), as necessary. Ability to use a variety of test and measurement equipment.
* Skill in the selection and use of testing equipment. Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the industrial radiology trade.
* Ability to calibrate equipment used in the industrial radiology trade. Ability to locate component/part deficiencies and recommend resolution.
* Knowledge of tool, equipment, and materials accounting and security. Knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its procedures. Knowledge of requirements and skill in the use of SOAP and CEMS. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:
1. Other significant facts pertaining to this position are:
Performs other related duties as assigned. May conduct OJT and/or classroom training. Also works with engineering, quality and laboratory personnel in establishing new testing procedures, providing practical technical assistance based on knowledge and experience.
2.Completes Oil Breakdown Rate Analysis (COBRA):
Performs COBRA inspections of aircraft engine oil samples to determine the rate of lubricant degradation. Establishes and monitors trend analysis of the applicable engine. Maintains an organized workarea and practices…
