DescriptionOur Transmission & Distribution global practice is looking for an experienced Staff Telecommunications Engineer to support our fast-growing Networks, Integration and Automation (NIA) team in our Fort Worth, TX office. This consulting engineering role focuses heavily on the support and growth of an existing investor‑owned utility client’s MPLS network, including large scale deployments of fiber, microwave, and PLTE networks.
- Support design of telecommunications networks utilizing client standards or developing new standards, as required.
- Support project deliverables such as bill of materials, specifications, yard layouts, equipment plans, sections and details, wiring diagrams, control building arrangements, DC calculations, cable lists, device configuration/program files, network architecture diagrams, channel plans, and cutover planning.
- Support execution of complex assignments requiring the use of advanced tools and techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods.
- Identify, communicate and support resolution of issues on projects as needed.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and instruction to less experienced staff members.
- Work with the project manager(s) to support project schedule and meet deadlines.
- Work closely with the project team and/or client to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to client’s satisfaction and that projects are following internal QA/QC guidelines.
- Meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel to develop relationships with key client points of contact.
- Provide support in preparing proposals and presentations.
- Serve as a quality control (QC) resource on an ad‑hoc basis for various deliverables (design, test plans, method of procedure (MOP) s, reports, etc).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer or other related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited program.
- Minimum of 3 years of utility telecommunications project or related experience.
- Nokia NRS 1 and 2 certifications or substantial industry experience with Nokia MPLS preferred.
- Professional Engineering licensure in the state of Texas or Engineering in Training registration preferred.
- Consulting experience preferred.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Must be capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
- Experience with Nokia Network Function Manager – Packet (NFM‑P) preferred.
- Python experience preferred.
- Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Power BI.
