Expert On Alert On-Site Technical Specialist – Fort Worth, TX
Who will you be working with?As part of a high performing team within the Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics group, this role works on-site with BNSF (the customer) to troubleshoot Wabtec locomotives utilizing the Expert on Alert™ platform. In addition to working closely with fellow Wabtec team members, this role regularly fields requests from BNSF Managers of Equipment Operations (MEOs), Road Foremen of Engines (RFE) and Managers of Locomotive Utilization (MLU) where influence and quick action is key to success.

the daily reporting location for this position is BNSF Corporate Headquarters located at 2500 Lou Menk Dr., Fort Worth, TX.
The EOA on-site Technical Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operational/technical tasks supporting the BNSF account. This includes monitoring and documenting the execution of Global Performance Optimization Center repair recommendations and creating/maintaining all daily/weekly/monthly scorecards and process/procedural documents, among other tasks.
This will include maintaining good working internal and external relationships with Wabtec and BNSF field and management teams. All of this with the singular goal of assisting our customer in keeping their GE/Wabtec locomotive fleet running at optimal levels.
What will your typical day look like?- The EOA on-site technical team is a 24/7/365 technical team of experts providing around-the-clock real-time support to our customer (BNSF Railway). This role will directly support a 24/7 schedule and may be assigned a dedicated shift (set days and hours) and/or be required to flex to provide coverage as necessary.
- Working with BNSF personnel to troubleshoot Wabtec locomotives and train issues to resolution, reducing or eliminating delay times and road failures. This could include indirect or direct discussion with BNSF road crews utilizing BNSF call protocols.
- Providing technical guidance to BNSF, reliability specialists, operations and field teams while keeping safety in the forefront.
- Managing daily operations of the Expert On Alert™ platform at BNSF including all scorecards, training documents and communication subsystems.
- Support Prognostics & preventative failure process to limit over the road failures.
- Liaison between business owners and technical team, preparing high level communication for senior Wabtec and BNSF leadership as required.
- Data collection and reporting as required; supporting customer needs & internal requirements.
- Provide leadership and project level management in the planning, evaluation, design, development, implementation, operation, and control of IT solutions.
- Act as an E.O.A Subject Matter Expert (SME), provide assistance and training to customer on platform use including owning the customer experience by being part of the “front line” providing leadership to expedite daily operational customer satisfaction.
- Work with internal Wabtec field teams to provide notice of locomotive conditions to various stakeholders, shops, warranty managers, fleet program managers etc.
- Supporting projects for Wabtec and the customer
- Work as a business partner with business leaders and users to evaluate/improve business processes and arrive at mutual, cost-effective solutions
- Prepare and present project plans, status reports to key internal / external stakeholders
- Assist with testing and piloting NPI’s
- All other duties as required to support changing MSA and customer needs.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a technical discipline
- OR a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in a support, field engineering, railroad operations, or related role(s)
- Willingness to work various shifts on various days including weekends and holidays / on-call. This includes night shift coverage.
- Expertise with Wabtec AC/DC EVO, Tier4, Dash 8, Dash 9 locomotive platforms – including the understanding of how the various subsystems work and how to troubleshoot them.
