Position: Aviation Parts and Process Inspector (DAT)

The inspector will be responsible for the inspection of engines, engine parts, sub-assemblies, and accessories in accordance with FAA approved technical data or instructions. This includes but is not limited to Receiving, In-Process and Final Inspections.

Responsibilities
  • The inspector will perform complete inspection of components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies, using approved types of measuring instruments, and inspection equipment.
  • The inspector is responsible for verifying the execution, inspection, and successful completion of the work performed.
  • The inspector should ensure all work-scope instructions, quality and regulatory requirements are complied with.
  • All inspection personnel must maintain proficiency in the use of various types of inspection aids, tools and gages routinely used for inspection of each item undergoing inspection.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and parts replacements in compliance with regulatory requirements. Complete maintenance logbooks and documentation accurately.
  • The inspector must ensure that all calibrated tools have current calibration and consumable materials being used are within their listed shelf life and have not expired.
  • Assist in the conduct of investigations into incidents or discrepancies in maintenance procedures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • To ensure compliance with the applicable title 14 CFR parts, inspection personnel are required to be thoroughly familiar with all inspection methods, techniques, and equipment used in their area of responsibility to determine the quality of airworthiness of an article undergoing maintenance, repair, or alteration.
  • Inspection personnel must remain current on requirements and how to find data contained in 14 CFR Parts 1, 43, 65 and 145. The maintenance being performed may be controlled by the requirements of 14 CFR Parts 91, 121, 125, 135, and all maintenance must be accomplished per the operator’s program requirements.
  • Perform other duties as may be directed by the Quality, Safety, Engineering Manager, Chief Inspector or Lead Inspector.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in working and communicating effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Problem‑solving mindset and a proactive, creative approach to challenges.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Web applications, and general technical data, including ESM, AMM, SB’s.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred, Powerplant required.
  • Prior experience with engine maintenance, engine changes, engine inspections and module removal & installation required.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Experienced A&P Licensed or P Licensed Technician to perform shop‑level work both in the MTU Maintenance shop and in the field, domestically and internationally, as job scopes warrant. Job duties include a large range of maintenance from service bulletin and AD compliance to inspections and Level one repairs. Individuals must maintain a high level of performance and integrity and be an effective team player with leadership potential.

    Individuals should have experience with Borescope inspections, top and bottom case compressor repairs, module removal and installation, engine change and QEC, AD and SB modifications, hot section replacements and repairs, configuration change, fan blade replacement, and lease return inspections.
  • Shop level maintenance required. Preferring experience with the following engines:
    • CFM 56
    • CF34
    • CF6
    • PW2000 & PW4000 & GTF
    • V2500
    • LEAP
    • GE90
  • Understands and can comply with the FAA and EASA requirements of return to service engines and aircraft
  • Comply with FAA, EASA, and Company Policies and procedures
  • Ability to learn as well as teach others on work scopes
  • Assist engineers in testing and troubleshooting equipment
  • Conduct heavy lifting of equipment and materials
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain and update equipment records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Assist in general shop maintenance tasks as needed
