This position will be located in our Fort Worth, TX office. The Drafting Manager oversees all drafting operations, leading a team of CAD professionals to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality technical drawings. The role is responsible for developing and enforcing drafting standards, optimizing CAD workflows, and ensuring that drawing deliverables support engineering, fabrication, and project execution goals. The Drafting Manager works cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams to align drafting output with company objectives and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the drafting team, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce CAD and drafting standards, templates, and best practices.
- Supervise production and quality assurance of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, and project management teams to ensure timely delivery of accurate drawings.
- Oversee CAD software systems, including configuration, updates, licensing, and user support.
- Implement process improvements to enhance drafting efficiency and reduce rework.
- Monitor drafting KPIs (e.g., on‑time delivery, revision rates, drawing error rate) and report progress to leadership.
- Maintain version control, drawing archives, and compliance with internal and industry standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, ISO).
- Mentor drafters and CAD technicians in both technical development and career growth.
- Manage workload prioritization and project assignments within the drafting team.
- Lead or support change initiatives related to drafting systems, tools, or organizational growth.
- Collaborate with leadership to forecast staffing needs, software/hardware upgrades, and technology investments.
- Support cross‑functional initiatives such as digital transformation, design automation, and 3D modeling.

- 5+ years of drafting/CAD experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Proven leadership experience in managing a drafting or CAD team.
- Advanced proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Solid Works, Revit, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of drafting standards and version control systems.
- Experience working with engineering and fabrication teams in industrial, construction, or manufacturing environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Drafting & Design, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience implementing and maintaining CAD standards across an organization.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows, drawing automation tools, or parametric modeling.
- Working knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME Y14.x, ISO 9001).
- Strong project management and documentation control skills.
This position has direct supervisory responsibility over the drafting team, including drafters, CAD technicians, and potentially supervisors or leads within the drafting department.
Work EnvironmentThis hybrid position will be located in our Fort Worth office with some work‑from‑home flexibility. The role involves extended sitting at a desk, computer usage, and communication with colleagues and clients.
Physical DemandsThis is a largely sedentary role with the occasional tasks involving light lifting or standing during meetings and communication.
Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full‑time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with some overtime, including nights and weekends, as necessary to meet reporting deadlines and business needs.
TravelOccasional travel may be required. This travel is typically infrequent and may be limited to local or regional locations, including company field offices.
