Job Summary:
The Librarian I supports intellectual access to library resources in a variety of formats by performing cataloging, database maintenance, and authority control, and by creating, maintaining, and enhancing metadata across multiple systems and platforms.
Duties &Essential Job Functions:
Education & Experience:
- Masters of Library Science (ALA accredited).
- 0 - 1 year experience in a library environment.
Education & Experience:
- Experience in cataloging, acquisitions and e-resource management.
Licensure/Certification /Specialized Training:
- None
- None
- Knowledge of planning and organizing.
- Knowledge of current standardized tools for description and access to information such as MARC (Machine-Readable Cataloging), RDA (Resource Description and Access), LCSH (Library of Congress Subject Headings), LCC (Library of Congress Classification)
- Knowledge of integrated library systems and related library technologies.
- Knowledge of customer service techniques.
- Skill to communicate clearly and grammatically both orally and in writing.
- Ability to review and make recommendations to improve and streamline processes.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):- Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
- Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
- Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
- Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
- Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
- This role is an on campus, in-person position.
- There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
- The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
