Position Function

The Manager of Education Services provides leadership, and strategic oversight of educational supports for youth in ACH’s residential programs. This role strengthens and manages the partnership with the partner school(s), and other educational providers, ensures consistent communication with program leadership, and develops system-wide processes that promote academic success for youth with both short-term and long-term placements. The Manager oversees individualized education planning, ensures continuity of learning, supervises ACH education staff, and collaborates closely with program leadership to align educational support with ACH’s mission and trauma-informed practices.

The Manager of Education Services also provides direct support and occasional intervention and tutoring to youth, modeling best practices and staying connected to the day-to-day educational needs of the program.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Work, Child Development, Psychology or related field required. Masters preferred.

Experience:

Minimum three years of experience providing educational support, special education services, academic intervention, or school-based work. Prior leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Experience working with youth who have experience trauma, behavioral challenges or interrupted schooling preferred.

Key Expectations/Responsibilities Program Leadership & Oversight
  • Establishes a strategic plan that allows for youth in care to receive a quality education and access to enrichment opportunities
  • Provide leadership and direction for ACH’s education support services across all residential programs.
  • Develop and implement educational processes, standards, and workflows to ensure consistent, high-quality support for all youth.
  • Collaborate with residential program leadership and educational providers to identify academic needs, trends, and solutions.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for educational support, academic planning, special education considerations, and advanced education considerations.
  • Ensure alignment with licensing, accreditation, and agency expectations related to education services.
School Partnership Management
  • Serve as the primary ACH liaison with the partner school(s), including administration, counselors, teachers, and special education teams.
  • Build and maintain strong, effective relationships with external educational providers.
  • Coordinate high-level communication regarding youth needs, concerns, behavioral support, attendance matters, and academic planning.
  • Attend ARD/IEP meetings, school conferences, educational information fairs or escalation meetings that require leadership involvement or advocacy.
  • Support the development of shared expectations and communication pathways between ACH and school partners.
Individual Academic Planning & Problem Solving
  • Oversee academic intake processes and ensure individualized education support plans are created for all youth.
  • Provide guidance on academic pathways, including credit recovery, graduation planning, GED options, and post-secondary exploration.
  • Monitor academic data trends and intervene when more intensive support is needed.
  • Address escalated academic concerns, barriers, or crises in collaboration with school partners and program leadership.
Supervision, Staff Development & Modeling
  • Supervise Education Services Coordinators, providing coaching, development, and performance feedback.
  • Model tutoring and intervention practices, youth engagement strategies, and trauma-informed educational support.
