Responsibilities
  • Teach district curriculum using well-designed, standards-aligned lesson plans.
  • Employ rigorous instructional strategies and project-based learning to foster collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional media and techniques appropriate to student capabilities.
  • Assess student mastery using multiple tools: formative assessments, performance tasks, standardized tests, and observations.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, grades, and assessment data.
  • Monitor and proctor standardized tests; manage test materials and data securely.
  • Establish and maintain effective classroom management and discipline strategies.
  • Monitor student behavior in classrooms, hallways, and assigned duty stations.
  • Create a learning environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to academic success.
  • Initiate and maintain open communication with parents and families regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Participate in school events, open houses, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Interpret and promote the school’s educational programs to the community.
  • Collaborate with peers, serve on committees, and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Attend district and campus professional development activities.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and demonstrate high standards of conduct and work ethic.
  • Supervise and evaluate aides, volunteers, and student teachers as applicable.
  • Refer students for evaluation by district specialists when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including supplemental assignments under special revenue or compensatory education funds.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for grade level and/or subject area required.
  • Two years of certified teaching experience required.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
  • Bilingual fluency beneficial in some settings.
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral) across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships internally and externally.
  • Technological proficiency including keyboarding and use of video display terminals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, walk, sit, and use hands for fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs.
  • Must maintain emotional control under stress and work irregular hours as needed.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 35 pounds occasionally.
  • Vision requirements include close and distance vision.
  • Work environment includes standard office and classroom settings with moderate noise levels.
