Under the direction of branch and association leadership, the Youth Achievement Director provides leadership and oversight for licensed after school and summer youth programs across multiple sites. This role ensures children experience safe, high‑quality, engaging environments where they feel supported, excited to learn, and connected to caring adults.

The Youth Achievement Director is responsible for curriculum execution, licensing compliance, staff readiness, family and school relationships, and day‑to‑day operational systems. Through consistent site presence, coaching, and strong partnerships, this leader ensures excellence, compliance, and long‑term sustainability across all youth achievement programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, youth development, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).

Three to five years of experience in youth programming, preferably in licensed or school‑based settings.

Supervisory experience required, including hiring, training, and coaching staff.

Working knowledge of HHS licensing standards strongly preferred.

Experience with enrollment and attendance systems (Daxko preferred).

Strong organizational, communication, relationship‑building, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.

CPR/First Aid certifications may be required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Oversees high‑quality, licensed after school and summer programs that align with YMCA youth development goals and HHS licensing standards.

Implements and supports curriculum across multiple sites, ensuring daily schedules balance academic support, enrichment, physical activity, and play.

Adjusts programming to meet seasonal, site‑specific, and developmental needs of youth.

Conducts regular site visits and walkthroughs to observe program quality, safety, supervision, and engagement; documents observations and provides real‑time coaching and follow‑up support.

Ensures programs are audit‑ready at all times by maintaining accurate licensing documentation, staff files, and compliance records across all sites.

Recruits, hires, onboards, trains, schedules, and supports after school and summer staff in alignment with YMCA values, licensing requirements, and program expectations.

Builds a strong staff culture through coaching, communication, accountability, and consistent performance feedback.

Creates weekly staff schedules, approves timecards, and ensures accurate payroll processing for assigned staff.

Serves as the primary point of contact for families; maintains timely, professional communication and responds thoughtfully to questions, concerns, and feedback.

Plans and hosts family engagement events that promote inclusion, celebrate youth participation, and strengthen program retention.
