Job SummaryThe Substation Foreman supervises and assists with the day-to-day activities of the substation employees and the project to which they are assigned, reporting directly to the Project Manager. The Foreman must be able to perform the various duties while on the job from Groundman to Leadman.
Responsibilities- Create, maintain, and execute the project plan to schedule and ensure compliance with budget.
- Supervise and coordinate all construction activities.
- Track and communicate weekly project reports and generate 3‑week look‑ahead.
- Ensure project materials and workmanship meet the project quality standards and design requirements.
- Initiate and conduct project meetings with staff assigned to the project and management if necessary.
- Review and address plan details, resolve issues before they result in added budget expenditures.
- Advise Superintendent of any potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts.
- Enforce site‑specific plans and procedures that are in line with EEI’s culture and safety requirements.
- Review and submit weekly timesheets to payroll for processing.
- Maintain the project’s daily job diary.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, Outlook and internal operational systems.
- Ability to apply basic engineering principles to construction challenges.
- Ability to visualize the entire project and anticipate constructability issues and embed solutions in the construction plans and schedules.
- Must be able to schedule, monitor and forecast resources for optimum efficiency.
- Ability to manage others and many facets of the construction project and assume responsibility.
- Valid State Class A driver’s license and/or a valid commercial driver’s license.
- OSHA 30 certification.
This job operates in a field environment and requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), standing, and twisting. The role also demands working in inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less is required, along with precise hand‑eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
