The Challenge:

The excavator operator will operate machinery for construction, demolition, and excavation projects including excavating, back filling, trenching, ditching, clearing, fine grading, unloading, and final clean up.

What you'll do:

Oversees the work and activities of skilled workers, as assigned.

Operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including front-end loaders, bulldozers, excavators, skid loaders, or motor grader.

Inspect excavation and maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and/or excavation plan.

Prepares construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.

Uses excavating machinery to dig holes and trenches used in structural concrete and pipeline.

Transports tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites.

Uses equipment to prepare construction sites exterior site concrete such as parking lots, driveways, sidewalks

Operates machinery used to construct backwash basins, flow diversions, concrete structures, list stations, pump stations, and other infrastructure.

Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to beginning shift.

Performs routine maintenance and repairs.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

What you'll need to succeed:

Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions.

Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change.

Ability to work with a variety of personalities.

Ability to perform basic arithmetic as needed to count and take inventory.

Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.

Ability to read building plans related to structural concrete and land grades.

Excellent mechanical skills.

Ability to follow instructions.

Prior job experience preferred.

Valid state light truck driver’s license.

On-the-job training offered

Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.

Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.

Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.

Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.

Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
