VP, Strategic Sourcing

The VP, Strategic Sourcing, is responsible for overseeing the sourcing strategy on a global scale. This position involves leading a team of sourcing professionals, developing sourcing strategies, and establishing supplier relationships to optimize costs, quality, delivery and supply chain efficiency. The VP, Strategic Sourcing, plays a critical role in driving global sourcing initiatives, mitigating supply chain risks, and ensuring compliance with sourcing policies and regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the global sourcing team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating staff.
• Provide regular reports and updates on sourcing performance and key metrics to senior management.
• Identify, evaluate, and select global suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery, capacity, reliability, and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and quality, to align sourcing strategies with business needs and support new product development.
• Focus near-term effort on resolving sourcing issues that are impeding customer deliveries.
• Analyze global market and economic trends to support sourcing decisions and evaluate supply chain risks including geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors.
• Implement sourcing best practices, processes, and tools to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
• Evaluate supplier performance and conduct periodic supplier audits to ensure compliance with standards.
• Lead supplier relationship management to strengthen partnerships and drive long-term value.
• Drive sustainability and social responsibility initiatives in the sourcing and supply chain.
• Collaborate with legal teams to ensure compliance and standardization with sourcing contracts and international trade regulations to optimize cost and mitigate risks.
• Work with finance to develop and manage sourcing budgets, cost models, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Foster a culture consistent with Schumacher's purpose, core values and strategic anchors.
• Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities

• Strong understanding of global supply chain dynamics, international trade, and sourcing strategies.
• Demonstrated success in negotiating and establishing supplier contracts to optimize costs and quality.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing sourcing teams.
• Familiarity with sourcing tools and technologies for supplier evaluation and data analysis.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to align sourcing efforts with business objectives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify opportunities for cost optimization and risk mitigation.
• Knowledge of industry regulations, sustainability, and social responsibility practices in sourcing.
• Proven ability to drive continuous improvement in sourcing processes and supplier performance.
• Strong project management and organizational skills to manage multiple sourcing initiatives.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic global environment.
• Proficiency in using sourcing and procurement software and tools.
• Solid understanding of component sourcing.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

• Education:
  
  bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, procurement, or a related field. A master's degree preferred.
• Experience:
  
  10+ years' proven experience in global sourcing and procurement, including 7+ years in a senior leadership role.
• Internal applicants: 6+ months successful demonstration of current position responsibilities, approval from current manager, and a relevant combination of education, continuing education, and experience.
