Job SummaryReporting to the Business Development Director for Aqua Texas, the Manager, Business Development will develop a pipeline of opportunities, prospecting new business, leading due diligence, financial analysis, contract negotiation, and integration of acquisitions. The role dedicates at least 50 % of time to residential developers and works with community leaders for municipal water and wastewater opportunities.
Essential Duties- Develop and sustain relationships with residential developers, municipal leaders and key stakeholders to generate opportunities for Aqua Texas.
- Target, approach and engage prospective developers to “sell” Aqua’s value proposition.
- Maintain a robust pipeline by prospecting new opportunities and managing existing ones through the business development process.
- Partner with finance, engineering, operations, environmental compliance, HR and legal to advance opportunities.
- Manage the proposal process ensuring all requirements are met for successful submissions.
- Co‑lead presentations to the Aqua America Investment Committee for approval.
- Coordinate external lawyers, advisors, accountants, and consultants for transaction completion.
- Collaborate with Aqua’s Communications team and with major builder organizations such as the Texas Home Builders Association to market Aqua’s capabilities.
- Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned.
- 5+ years of experience developing new business opportunities (market assessment, entry strategy, acquisitions or joint ventures).
- Proven negotiation and transaction experience with real estate developers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Engineering.
- Track record in sales or business development.
- Experience with real estate development, municipalities, or utilities is a positive.
- CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce) desired.
- Results‑oriented and driven to win.
- Strong knowledge of the residential real estate market in Texas a positive.
- Excellent verbal and written presentation and communication skills.
- Mastery of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Advanced financial and valuation analysis skills.
- Ability to identify and address cross‑functional issues during acquisitions.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
- Team player fostering a multi‑tasking environment.
- Sedentary work; occasional lifting up to 20 lb.
- Travel to work sites and other constituents; up to 50 % travel, including overnight travel.
