The Team Lead has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities that they are assigned to daily. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Lead is responsible for oversight of the associates in the warehousing, receiving, and shipping functions in their area, ensuring consistent alignment with company service and cost objectives.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTraining Responsibilities:
- Mentor and train new and existing associates in specific distribution activities to meet established customer demands.
- Train associates on current Standard Operating Procedures, including shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control.
- Assist in forklift operation and certification for new and existing associates.
Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and the picking and staging of outbound shipments to maximize productivity, verifying required paperwork with drivers.
- Efficiently and accurately load orders according to the appropriate doors and trailers.
- Process all shipping/receiving/picking functions as defined by Standard Operating Procedures.
- Research discrepancies that may occur in the shipping and receiving process.
Customer Service:
- Maintain a professional appearance and communication style at all times.
- Communicate with customers telephonically, electronically, or in person as required.
- Prepare required activity reports accurately and efficiently for site management.
Quality Control Responsibilities:
- Use appropriate documentation to verify all product and/or orders are received or shipped correctly and accurately picked.
- Verify products and/or orders meet quality standards, reporting any damages or discrepancies, and perform stacking, packaging, shrink-wrapping, and labeling.
- Process all quality control functions as defined by Standard Operating Procedures.
- Report inconsistencies and/or problems to the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager.
- Participate in quality meetings.
Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance:
- Know and comply with relevant ISO standards that impact this position, department, and company.
- Execute all safety protocols and maintain a clean, neat, orderly work area.
- Assist in securing the warehouse and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures, corporate and site-specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS Standards.
- Participate in safety meetings.
Labor Management:
- Direct the operations of the warehouse work team to achieve prescribed objectives.
- Assist associates and temporary labor with productivity sheets and accurate capture of production and payroll hours.
- Assist the Supervisor in maintaining a productive workforce and in establishing work schedules.
- Ensure schedules are correctly implemented and jobs are assigned, completed properly.
- Assist the Operations Supervisor in ensuring all associates handle products according to all prescribed quality procedures and guidelines.
