Austin Bridge & Road is seeking a Senior Contract Administrator to oversee the administration and risk management of all contractual relationships supporting heavy civil construction projects, based at the corporate office in Coppell, Texas. This role supports the Director of Risk Management and ensures all contract and insurance-related activities are executed with accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

The Contract Manager will lead the preparation, negotiation, and execution of contracts while collaborating with project teams, legal counsel, and external partners to drive successful project outcomes. Supervisory responsibilities include oversight of prime and subcontract negotiations, insurance compliance, and master agreement administration.

Responsibilities
  • Lead negotiations of prime contracts, ensuring terms align with company objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Oversee insurance requirements and compliance for all prime contracts.
  • Manage subcontract variance negotiations to ensure fair and balanced risk allocation.
  • Review and approve subcontract insurance variances in coordination with risk management.
  • Administer and maintain Master Agreements and associated documentation.
  • Oversee the contract review process to ensure consistency, accuracy, and risk mitigation.
  • Identify and communicate contractual risks to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate allocation of risk in all contract language and provisions.
  • Manage risk transferred to the company through flow-down provisions to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Negotiate and monitor Master Agreements and Master Insurance Certificates to ensure compliance and alignment with company standards.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies related to prime contract terms.
  • Facilitate the “Manage by the Contract” program and conduct industry-specific risk assessments.
  • Prepare comprehensive Contract Review briefs summarizing key terms, potential issues, and recommended actions; assist in the enterprise Risk and Fee Analysis process.
  • Design and deliver training sessions on contract and risk management best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Risk Management and Legal teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, risk management, or related field preferred; associate degree or equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in contract management, preferably in construction, engineering, or insurance, with familiarity in heavy civil projects.
  • Strong ability to negotiate, interpret, and manage complex contracts and insurance requirements with a focus on risk allocation and mitigation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience leading contract-related initiatives and training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Docu Sign, and contract management systems; ERP and risk analysis tool experience a plus.
Requirements
  • Ability to manage high volumes of contracts and insurance documents with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Capacity to identify, assess, and communicate contractual risks across multiple project types.
  • Experience facilitating contract compliance programs and internal risk assessments.
  • Skill in developing and delivering training on contract and risk management practices.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legal and policy standards to contract language and negotiations.
  • Willingness to work from the corporate office in Coppell, Texas, with occasional travel to project sites as needed.
