Senior Accountant

A privately held E&P group in the Metroplex is seeking a Sr. Accountant to focus oncore accounting and close functions for operated assets. This role will be responsible for monthly close activities, general ledger maintenance, cash and balance sheet reconciliations, and coordination across AP, operations, and internal teams. The ideal candidate has hands-on upstream accounting experience and is comfortable working across multiple accounting work streams in a fast-paced E&P environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the monthly close process, including journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliations

• Perform monthly operated JIB-related activities, including review of billings and coordination with AP

• Record monthly cash entries and complete balance sheet reconciliations

• Coordinate monthly AP distributions related to operated properties

• Perform monthly intercompany accounting and variance analysis

• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data

• Compile and record quarterly CAPEX accruals in coordination with operations and engineering

• Assist with quarter-end financial reporting and audit support

• Support ad-hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as needed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience with upstream oil & gas exposure

• Experience supporting monthly close and general ledger accounting in an E&P environment

• Working knowledge of JIB processes and operated properties (not a pure JIB role)

• Experience with upstream accounting systems (SAP, Enertia, Quorum, Excalibur, or similar)

• Strong Excel skills and reconciliation experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus but not required
