Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant (Accounting/Treasury Blend) | Salary Range: $75,000–$80,000 + discretionary 10% bonus

Sage Search Partners is seeking a Staff Accountant for a client in the investment space located in downtown Fort Worth, TX (in-office). This role supports accurate financial reporting and close activities while also partnering with the team on select treasury and cash management processes.

The ideal candidate will bring 1–3 years of progressive accounting experience in an industry environment (oil & gas strongly preferred), a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, strong GAAP-based accounting fundamentals, and advanced Excel skills; exposure to revenue/JIB or partnership-style accounting is a plus, and the client can train the treasury components for someone with the right core accounting base.

• Own key components of the month-end and year-end close, including preparing support and ensuring timely completion of deliverables
• Prepare and record journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger activity in alignment with accounting standards
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies with appropriate documentation
• Support oil & gas revenue-related accounting, including billing/allocations and coordination of supporting schedules as needed
• Assist with audit readiness, including compiling requested items, responding to inquiries, and helping maintain audit trails
• Contribute to treasury and cash activities (approximately 25% of the role), such as supporting cash positioning, bank activity, and routine reporting
• Help strengthen processes and controls by following internal procedures and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency

• 1–3 years of accounting experience, ideally in an industry setting (oil & gas/energy, manufacturing, or similar preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Strong understanding of core accounting and GAAP; familiarity with internal controls is beneficial
• High proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, formulas) and comfort working in the broader Microsoft Office suite
• Experience with oil & gas accounting, JIB, revenue processes, or partnership structures is strongly preferred
