• Safely operate and navigate the Sweet Breeze, including downtown rivers
• Welcome passengers, communicate safety procedures, and ensure a top‑notch river experience
• Monitor weather, river levels, and currents; adjust tours and schedules as needed
• Lead crew and coordinate first mate, deckhand, and volunteer duties
• Complete vessel checklists, logs, and light maintenance tasks
• Assist with special events and seasonal operations
• Report maintenance issues and enforce department safety rules

• Calm under pressure, decisive, and safety‑focused
• Strong communicator, approachable leader, and team motivator
• Observant, organized, and detail‑oriented
• Adaptable to changing conditions and flexible with schedules
• Enthusiastic, confident, and passionate about creating unforgettable river experiences

• High school diploma or GED
• 3+ years boating experience preferred, Fort Wayne rivers a plus
• Basic knowledge of engines and vessel systems
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Indiana Boating Safety Certificate
• First Aid & CPR certification
• Indiana Driver's License

• Stand, crawl into tight spaces, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Operate in varying weather and river conditions
