Essential Functions- Conduct inspections and perform maintenance and repair tasks on trucks and heavy machinery used on county roads and highways.
- Replace catch basins and conduct repairs on field tile to ensure proper drainage of water runoff.
- Provide assistance with traffic control and flagging operations.
- Handle machine and equipment repairs.
- Support snow removal, brush cutting, tree removal, and stump grinding activities.
- Remove obstructions from roads.
- Execute any additional assigned duties, including overtime when necessary.
- High School Diploma or GED and at least one year experience operating trucks and heavy equipment.
- Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to operate County vehicles and equipment.
- Working knowledge of basic roadway construction.
- Ability to operate dump trucks, chain saw, construction equipment and tools and other job related equipment.
- Knowledge of repair and proper installation of water runoff systems and drainage.
The Maintenance Worker II carries out moderately complex tasks involving the operation and inspection of heavy equipment. Applied knowledge is required when providing assistance with traffic control and flagging.
ResponsibilityThe Maintenance Worker II executes tasks under moderate supervision, following detailed instructions. Diligence and expertise are necessary while operating trucks, equipment, and attachments to guarantee personal safety as well as the safety of others.
Personal Work RelationshipsThe Maintenance Worker II maintains regular communication with fellow county employees while conducting maintenance and repairs on county roads and highways.
Working ConditionsThe Maintenance Worker II regularly lifts objects weighing up to sixty pounds, frequently engages in activities such as bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching overhead, and crawling. There is a regular requirement for standing, sitting, and some walking. The work environment often involves exposure to extreme temperatures, hazardous equipment, frequent noise, unpleasant odors, and fumes, as well as occasional contact with chemicals.
Attention to detail, equipment monitoring, and thorough inspection are frequently necessary, including some proofreading. There is also exposure to hazards related to working in heavy traffic conditions.
Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to operate County vehicles and equipment.
HoursWork hours are scheduled from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with flexibility for additional shifts as necessary. The position also requires on-call availability 24/7. Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
