GIRLS’ TENNIS VARSITY HEAD COACH
JOB SUMMARY Position is responsible for organizing the Girls’ Tennis program at Bishop Luers High School: conducting practices, motivating student‑athletes, and instructing them in strategies and techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Instruct athletes in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of girls’ tennis.
- Report to the Athletic Director and Principal.
- Organize and direct individual and small group practices, activities, and exercises.
- Assess players’ skills, monitor them during competition and practice, and keep track of athletic performance.
- Supervise athletes during practices and competitions.
- Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Model sports‑like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
- Maintain the equipment room in an orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security.
- Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to athletes.
- Submit a list of award winners at the end of the season to the athletic department.
- Participate in special activities such as parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies as much as possible.
- Perform support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records via Final Forms.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance, if available.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, Principal, or other appropriate administrator.
- Obtain BLHS certification to drive a minibus.
- Previous high‑school tennis coaching experience preferred but not required.
- Be willing to fulfill the mission statement of Bishop Luers High School (see below).
- Pass a background check, complete diocesan training, and complete required IHSAA state courses.
- Head varsity coaching position is part‑time and paid by a stipend that varies based on experience. Be available to start as soon as possible.
