The Adoption Care Expert (ACE) will work with clients who have made the decision to be adoptive families or an expectant mother considering adoption. They will provide client-centered, trauma-informed services to clients. Staff will work with both adoptive families and birth families to understand and manage their expectations of the adoption process and the available adoption options. This role will work with clients to provide resources, information, and referrals to support the client’s needs and goals.
This position supports the agency’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
As our Adoption Care Expert, you will:
- Initial assessment and decision counseling to determine if adoption is a good choice for the client
- Facilitate the home study process for both the program and outside stakeholders
- Complete background checks as part of the home study process
- Grief and Loss counseling and support throughout adoption and post adoption
- Post adoption services for adoptive families, including, but not limited to referrals to counseling, support groups, and extended training
- Conduct Information Sessions to prospective adoptive families.
- Conduct support groups
- Basic case management services to connect expectant mothers with housing, food, therapy, and other resources to prioritize physical and mental health regardless of their adoption decision
- Education and support through the adoptive family matching process
- Development of the expectant mother’s birth and adoption plan
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or other human services related field
- If your degree is a Bachelor of Social Work, then licensure or ability to be licensed is required
