The Brick Mason will construct and repair structures and surfaces using bricks, concrete blocks, and natural or man-made stones. This role involves building walls, floors, arches, pavements, partitions, and other structures with precision and attention to detail. We are seeking an experienced candidate with a proven background in ensuring accuracy, structural integrity, and high-quality finishes while working with both hand and power tools.
Candidates must be willing to become signatory to the Brick Masons Union if not already a member.
Typical Duties:
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other materials to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches and similar structures
- Use trowels, levels, plumb bobs, hammers, chisels, and other hand tools to construct and finish structures
- Measure, cut and shape bricks or blocks to fit required dimensions
- Mix mortar or grout and spread it with a trowel
- Clean and prepare surfaces for bricklaying by removing debris and leveling surfaces
- Build scaffolding or temporary structures to provide safe working conditions
- May use power grinders or hammer and chisel to remove rough spots or repair defective areas
- Follow safety procedures, which may include wearing respirators, eye protection and other personal protective equipment
