Technician - Heavy Equipment Field

The position is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing equipment and performs mechanical services on new and used equipment in the field. Engages in face-to-face customer service interaction and is also responsible for housekeeping and properly maintaining company issued vehicles, tools, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Follow strict safety protocols; using proper PPE as required.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment in the field.
• Complete all required reporting for service time accurately and efficiently, including writing service reports, allocating time, tracking parts, and returning parts.
• Maintain customer satisfaction by understanding customer needs and deadlines, completing scheduled repairs and services safely, timely, and accurately.
• Maintain company issued equipment and tools in good working order.
• Adhere to all safety rules and maintain good housekeeping (5S) in the work area.
• Keep customers updated on job status and inform them of any issues or delays.
• Must carry a company cell phone and be available 24/7.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical background through vocational school in diesel equipment repair.
• 3 to 5 years of mechanical experience with equipment, preferably Caterpillar; strong knowledge of hydraulics, power train, and electrical systems.
• Understanding of work area metrics; proactive in improving metrics; familiar with 6 Sigma principles.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; able to interpret policies and guidelines.
• Responds promptly to customer requests; responsible and committed to customer satisfaction.
• Professional appearance and courteous treatment of peers and customers.
• CDL required.
