Position:
Nutrition Process Center | 8hr School Year | Cafeteria Assistant at Fort Wayne Community Schools
. This position is 8 hours per day following the school year schedule and includes insurance benefits.
- Prepare and package food items: assemble ingredients; heat, package, and wrap according to established procedures, portion control standards, and HACCP standards.
- Maintain food service facilities, equipment, and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with HACCP standards; clean serving areas, counters, tables, food containers, refrigerators, and other equipment; operate dishwashers and wash trays, pots, pans, plates, utensils.
- Prepare and assemble entrees, fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, desserts, and other assigned foods for distribution; mix, slice, chop; assist in assuring proper temperature of foods.
- Assist in receipt, storage, and rotation of food items and supplies; assist with inventory activities, open cans and boxes, replenish containers.
- Safely operate standard food service equipment (ovens, slicers, food carts, can openers, warmers, steam-jacketed kettles, rotary ovens, proofers, assembly lines, mixers).
- Maintain routine records related to assigned activities.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to perform assigned duties.
Probationary Period- New employees must successfully complete their probationary period to be eligible to apply for posted positions.
- Employees must remain in their current position a minimum of sixty (60) calendar days to be eligible to apply for any non-lateral posted position.
- Current non-probationary employees may only apply for lateral positions at the end of each school year.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and hear, have dexterity of hands and fingers, stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, twist, reach overhead and above shoulders, and push/pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. The employee will be required to operate in cold temperatures for extended periods and may perform repetitive work.
