Position: Quality Manager (Fort Wayne, IN)

Plans, coordinates, and directs Quality System designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards that meet or exceed customer quality expectations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists with development of the corporate Quality Plan.
  • Manages and directs all functions related to Quality System certification and ongoing compliance.
  • May serve as champion of specific processes or functions within the quality system.
  • Takes responsibility for Quality System certification programs, including ISO
    9001.
  • Revises and updates the Quality Manual.
  • Maintains the Quality Management assessment system to monitor corporate objectives and owns data measuring the effectiveness of the quality system, including customer view of quality, in‑house manufacturing, and machine capabilities.
  • Takes responsibility for significant quality issues, remains hands‑on with the issue, develops a plan to resolve it, and communicates the plan and progress to the organization.
  • Evaluates cost and responsibility of discrepant material based on established methods and procedures.
  • Develops and implements Corrective Action, determines Root Cause, and monitors effectiveness of actions taken.
  • Participates in New Product Introduction to ensure that manufacturing process capabilities match customer requirements.
  • Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures and Operations Department staff.
  • Provides day‑to‑day leadership, supervision, and management to the Quality Team; directs staff engaged in inspection and sampling activities.
  • Meets with customer liaisons on a regular basis to ensure direct communication and satisfaction, including investigating customer complaints regarding quality; this includes on‑time, comprehensive 8‑D Corrective Action Analysis and functional containment / contingency planning.
  • Provides training and procedures to production teams related to quality improvement initiatives and monitors successful implementation.
  • Provides avenues for personnel development and career growth; serves as mentor and coach for Quality Assurance Department staff.
  • Performs internal audits related to MyOCI performance tracking.
Supervisory Duties

Directly supervises employees in the Quality Department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university (Engineering degree preferred).
  • 3–5 years related experience and/or training.
  • Formal GD&T training and understanding.
  • Experience using 8‑D corrective action methodology, Lean, and Six‑Sigma methodologies.
  • Attends workshops or continuing education courses as needed to update skills to industry standards.
  • ASQ certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required for visits to customer facilities.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Math Skills
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
