Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Emergency Veterinarian Mentee to join our collaborative, team-focused hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. • Support – We have a minimum of 2 Emergency Veterinarians and 8 support staff (2-3 receptionists, 2-3 treatment technicians and 3 dedicated ICU technicians) per shift.

• Robust Specialty & Emergency Support – Work alongside board-certified specialists in Surgery, Critical Care, Cardiology, and Internal Medicine, plus 12 experienced doctors dedicated to emergency medicine.
• Blood Donor Program – In-house blood donor program ensures critical patients receive transfusions when needed.
• On-Site Social Worker – On-site four days a week to support team and clients through difficult cases.

We are seeking future veterinarians passionate about emergency medicine for our 6-month training and mentorship program. We seek team-oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable individuals.

The ER Immerse Program prepares veterinarians for a sustainable career in emergency medicine. It focuses on clinical knowledge and skills, client and team communication, professional skills, and life/work integration. It uses a hybrid training approach with simulation-based didactics and live-patient experiences, built around a core competencies curriculum for emergency clinicians.

• 1-year commitment as an ER clinician following training

• 5-day work week: 4 clinical days, 1 didactic day, 2 days off
• Paired with a mentor; first 3 months mirror the same schedule
• After month 3, potential to transition to swings; no overnights until approved
• Surgical training with board-certified surgeons
• Competency-based curriculum with asynchronous Vetbloom learning and weekly live rounds
• Regular live CE events led by specialists and experienced emergency doctors
