Founded in 1925 and a leader in the production of Stainless Steels, Nickel Alloys and Titanium Long products, Valbruna is a private company with 2,700 employees and an annual output of approx. 250,000 tons of specialty steels. Production is primarily focused on Stainless Steels and Specialty Alloys, available in blooms and billets, ingots, round, square, flat, hexagonal and angle bars, wire rod, wire, reinforcement bars and threaded rods, with the expressed goal of satisfying the most sophisticated needs of the customer.
To that end, Valbruna is constantly updating its production capabilities and experience.
- Lead, mentor, and develop all metallurgical and lab personnel.
- Responsible for leading the quality team in the achievement of departmental goals, KPI’s, with the goal of driving continuous improvement in all areas of the department.
- Interpret customer quality and material requirements, translating them into tangible execution.
- Ensure the establishment, implementation and maintenance of a Quality Management System that meets all applicable requirements of NADCAP.
- Supports sales with customer-related quality and technical issues.
- Provides leadership to the internal audit process to ensure compliance with Quality Standards and management systems.
- Manages the customer claims process.
- Ensure strict adherence of all team members to all safety regulations and practices.
- Effective leadership and ownership skills as well as the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Able to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in ASTM, AMS, and ASME specifications and their applicable interpretations.
- Excellent project and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and deal effectively with conflicting priorities.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail are both critical for this position. Will be expected to complete assignments and tasks with both thoroughness and accuracy.

- Ability to function effectively in a fast paced and, at times, stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical skills and expertise in Metallurgy and Material Science.
- Experience in leading quality improvement projects and internal audits.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Chemical/Physical Sciences plus 5 years in a quality leadership role in a similar industry.
- In lieu of a degree, 10 years of relevant industry experience is required, specifically in a quality or manufacturing environment focused on materials science.
- Experience in a union environment is preferred.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required due to ITAR and EAR requirements.
