Key Responsibilities
Shift Times: 7:00 pm-7:30 am. Rotating 12‑hour shifts with every other weekend off!
- Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines
- Knows emergency procedures and what to do in the event of power outages, machine failures, workplace injuries, etc.
- Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Understands and identifies Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
- Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately
- Actively participates in the D&W safety improvement process/activities, e.g. Hazard Identification, Safety Suggestions, Safety Teams, etc.
- Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
- Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate
- Replaces defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassembles equipment
- Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogs as necessary
- Orders parts, supplies and equipment
- Assembles, installs or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, machinery and equipment
- Assists other workers with specific tasks as requested
- Follows plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
- 1‑2 years’ experience in the mechanical maintenance field
- Ability and inclination to work safely for themselves and their team members
- Disposition to work and follow verbal/written instructions
- Moderate computer skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
