Summary
Programs and tends one or more industrial robotic welders to weld metal work pieces to specifications on a production basis by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Program robotic welder(s) by manipulating key pad to control movements of robot torch and positioner. Determines and programs for weld sequences. Programs individual welds. Tests program to verify weld points and part clearance.
- Collaborates with Engineering Department and other operators regarding fixtures and robot capabilities.
- Sets up jobs by getting fixtures and components, finding master job in computer directory, loading and securing fixtures and components onto table of robot manually or using hoist of forktruck, visually checking points of contact, and making adjustments as needed.
- Operates robotic welder(s) by continually loading components onto fixture, operating controls and adjusting machine, and monitoring robot functions. Performs manual production welding processes.
- Performs first-piece and in-process inspection by checking parts per blueprint using calipers and tape measure. Inspects according to C=0 chart. Completes inspection form.
- Trains robot operators in basic robotic welder operation and setup.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on robot(s) as required. Completes maintenance log.
- Cleans and scrapes parts using hand-held grinder and scraper.
- Mig welds to add welds or touch-up parts. Mig welds on production jobs as time permits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The position may require occasional supervisory responsibility in the absence of Teamleader and/or for relaying general information.
Qualifications Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to five years welding experience and/or training; basic blueprint proficiency required. Previous robotic programming experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with vendors and employees of the organization.
Math SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning SkillsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
