Job SummaryThe Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily operations, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and efficient use of machines and labor. This role oversees machin and operators, manages job priorities, and coordinates closely with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to meet customer and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise daily CNC machining operations, including milling, turning, grinding, and secondary processes
- Execute and adjust production schedules to meet customer due dates in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment
- Lead and support CNC machinists and operators; assign work, provide coaching, and manage performance
- Monitor machine utilization, setup times, scrap, and rework; drive continuous improvement
- Ensure parts meet quality requirements and customer specifications; support first-article inspections and corrective actions
- Coordinate with Programming/Engineering on tooling, fixturing, setups, and process improvements
- Work closely with Maintenance to minimize downtime and address equipment issues
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and shop policies
- Track and report key metrics such as on-time delivery, efficiency, scrap, and labor utilization
- Support hiring, training, and onboarding of shop personnel
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or apprenticeship preferred
- 5–10 years of experience in a CNC machining environment
, with prior supervisory or lead experience - Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, setups, tooling, and GD&T
- Experience working in a job shop or high-mix, low-volume environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and shop floor scheduling
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on CNC machining background (mills, lathes, multi-axis)
- Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience supervising skilled trades or machinists
- Exposure to AS9100, ISO 9001, or customer-specific quality systems
