About the Branch
The Pontiac Branch serves Fort Wayne's Southeast side, an energetic, diverse, and often underserved community. This branch is a neighborhood anchor for youth, care-givers, and community partners. We’re looking for a manager who knows how to listen first, show up consistently, and advocate when it counts.
The RoleAs Branch Manager, you’ll lead daily operations while keeping one eye firmly on the community's needs. You’ll coach staff, handle challenges directly and professionally, and build relationships and partnerships that matter. This is a hands-on, onsite leadership role for someone who is adaptable, people-centered, and comfortable making tough calls when needed.
What You'll Do- Lead and support a team serving a high-impact, high-need community
- Build strong relationships with patrons of all ages, schools, and community organizations
- Support the community in ways that reflect the real needs of the Southeast side
- Address behavioral issues and conflict with confidence, empathy, and consistency
- Manage branch operations, staffing, and service quality
- Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program (required)
- At least four years of professional librarian experience (required)
- Experience working with youth—and genuinely enjoying it
- Demonstrated success serving diverse and underserved populations
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to be both empathetic and firm
- Comfort handling confrontation and setting clear boundaries
- Cultural awareness and a deep interest in the Southeast Fort Wayne community
- Ability to adapt quickly and lead through change

Pay & BenefitsSalary range: $61,000-$75,000
, depending on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; paid pension; generous PTO (four weeks of vacation and two weeks of sick leave accrual); wellness reimbursement; employee assistance program; and more. Relocation assistance may be available.
