Overview

Summary — Quality-focused leadership role within Parkview Health. This position collaborates with the Director Quality to build cohesive quality accreditation specialist (QAS) and accreditation teams, communicates changes and expectations to the team, and serves as a liaison to the Director, VP and CQO. The role acts as a catalyst in aligning quality with patient outcomes and directs personnel to fulfill the mission and goals of Parkview Health.

It includes conflict management, coaching, mentoring, data interpretation, problem-solving, and presenting data to diverse audiences. The position interprets regulatory standards, assesses impact to the system, and uses quality improvement techniques to develop and implement system-wide action plans. It coordinates day-to-day operations through standard work and evaluates, oversees, and validates quality and accreditation projects. It also serves as a role model, orienting, coaching, and mentoring staff, and acts as a resource for staff and others inside and outside the organization.

Regular performance evaluations are completed, department standards are maintained, and a positive customer service environment is encouraged. The role monitors and maintains the approved department budget and participates in strategic plan tactics, regulatory compliance, data management, policy and procedure development and review, and service line participation/support.

Responsibilities
  • Quality Resources – Acts as the primary resource for internal and external safety, quality and regulatory educational needs. Develops, coordinates, and oversees orientation, training, competency and proficiency assessments of the Quality Management (QM) staff. Oversees education and training of QM coworkers and ongoing education and professional growth of QM staff. Identifies resources needed for departmental QM education efforts, collaborating with QM Leaders to ensure resources and standardized training approaches.
  • Accreditation, Certification & Standards Compliance – Leads QM accreditation staff and serves as operational lead for the PH System Accreditation Collaborative. Acts as a subject-matter expert in regulatory and accreditation processes. Assists the Director in managing, coordinating, standardizing, evaluating and enhancing systems and processes related to licensure/accreditation/certification. Maintains knowledge of current ISDH, The Joint Commission and CMS standards and survey processes.

    Optimizes QM team activities by ensuring issues and actions are understood and standardized, sharing changes in requirements, and communicating team needs and resources. Guides analysis of survey findings and responses to citations. Coordinates compliance/quality assessments, action planning and performance improvement activities. Oversees standardization and approval of action plans for regulatory agencies. Manages Policy/Procedure staff and maintains standardized processes for policy, procedure, and nursing skills/protocol platforms.

    Ensures compliance with approved medical staff protocols and strengthens stakeholder relationships within policy and nursing practice domains.
Education

Bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related field is required. If the degree is in Nursing, a BSN from an accredited program is required. A Master's degree in nursing, education or health administration is preferred.

Licensure/Certification

Must have a valid Indiana RN licensure if the degree is in nursing. CPHQ certification required or obtained within 12 months of hire. HACP certification, educator and project management experience are preferred.

Experience

Minimum of five years in a lead, supervisory and/or educational role. Experience in healthcare quality, regulatory compliance, data analysis and reporting is preferred.

Other Qualifications
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, including accuracy and attention to detail; proven ability to lead personnel toward Parkview Health’s mission and goals and to plan, implement and evaluate change.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient in Microsoft programs; working knowledge of data warehousing, disease registries, and quality report interpretation; EPIC knowledge is preferred.
  • Knowledge of value-based measures, Meaningful Use, PQRS, NQF measures is desired.
  • Strong customer service and coworker development skills; ability to work collaboratively with physicians and care teams; strong critical thinking skills; ability to lead physicians and peers in a positive, collaborative, professional manner.
  • Knowledge/experience in supervision/management; familiarity with regulatory standards (IDOH, CMS, The Joint Commission).
