Serves as peer support for individuals in recovery from a mental health condition, substance-use disorder, or both and connects them to resources to support recovery.
EducationHigh School diploma or GED completion.
Licensure/CertificationMust have a valid Indiana Driver's license and proof of car insurance; CPR certification within 30 days of hire; certification of peer support for recovery within six months of employment for PBHI Grants requiring certification, Assertive Community Treatment, SAMHSA-CCBHC, and crisis teams.
ExperiencePreferably 2 years of experience working in community settings connecting with clients face-to-face; must have shared experiences of those they serve.
Other Qualifications- Reliable transportation (may need to travel during the work day).
- Expertise in the community of residence and trusted member of the community.
- Ability to engage diverse learners.
- Skills in individual and group teaching, home visiting, advocating, and motivational interviewing.
- High degree of humility and respect for cultural diversity within each community.
- Ability to speak multiple languages (plus).
