Summary
Under the direction of the Nurse Leader or Supervisor, is responsible for answering multiple phone lines to schedule and coordinate surgical procedures ordered by clinical staff for multiple departments and locations. Conducts professional patient interviews, including triaging phone calls and obtaining demographic and biographical information. Processes registrations and schedules in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner. Functions as a point of contact for interactions with care team members and patients.
Requirements include medical terminology; the ability to listen effectively and multi-task in a fast paced environment; excellent communication, typing, problem solving, trouble shooting, and time management skills. Co-worker must be able to adapt to constant change and perform in a stressful environment. Co-worker must enter all appropriate scheduling information into the Parkview Health Scheduling system and is responsible for data integrity in all systems utilized for job functions.
Will request and identify all necessary records so that they are available to the physicians for the stated diagnosis as well as assuring that the patient is scheduled with appropriate clinical staff for this diagnosis. Is responsible for the delivery of quality performance, service excellence, and adheres to the Parkview Health Standards of Behavior.
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent with GED. Courses of anatomy and medical terminology highly preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant, RN, or LPN license required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Parkview Physician Group office or 3 years of external experience in a medical office setting.
- Mandatory computer keyboarding skills, ability to operate standard office equipment such as: multi-line phone, calculator, copy machine, fax, etc.
- Proficient in Windows-based computer applications.
- Proficient in internet browsers and other web-based applications.
- Ability to navigate an electronic medical record system.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate professional telephone etiquette, exceptional organization, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be adaptable and able to implement solutions in a variety of scenarios.
- Must be able to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Must be creative and forward-thinking when faced with challenges in conjunction with clinical staff.
