Schedule:
A Shift – 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.;
Shift – 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.;
Shift – 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.;
Mid Shifts – 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Hours may vary based on operational need. This is a 24/7 environment and includes weekends and holidays.
You'll be at the center of critical police records operations—supporting officers, courts, partner agencies, and the public. From processing confidential criminal justice data to answering non-emergency 911 calls, you'll play a key role in ensuring accurate information moves quickly and securely. This is high-responsibility work that requires focus, professionalism, and sound judgment.
Key Responsibilities- Process, enter, update, and verify records in NCIC, IDACS, Spillman, and related criminal justice systems
- Answer technician phone lines and assist with incoming non-emergency 911 calls; gather and relay critical information clearly and accurately
- Conduct background checks, criminal history research, and gun permit processing in accordance with state guidelines
- Capture and process fingerprints using Live Scan and AFIS systems; photograph prisoners, victims, evidence, and department events
- Monitor and respond to time-sensitive IDACS/NCIC hits and maintain detailed logs of arrests, calls, and investigative documentation
- Associate degree in Criminal Justice (or related field) OR equivalent education and experience
- At least one year of experience in a fast-paced, multi-tasking records or data-entry environment
- Ability to make sound decisions involving confidential information
- Strong communication skills with the ability to remain calm in high-stress, life-and-death situations
- Working knowledge of law enforcement procedures and ability to interpret policies and regulations
- IDACS/NCIC Certification (required within six months of hire)
- Valid Indiana Driver's License
- Proficiency in Windows-based systems including Word and Excel
- Experience with Spillman, Live Scan, AFIS, Odyssey, JTAC, Laserfiche, or similar criminal justice databases
- Strong keyboarding and data-entry accuracy (testing required)
- Ability to read maps, use emergency code terminology, and quickly identify streets and locations within Allen County
