Summary of the Job:

Onsite Summer Internship Opportunity located in Fort Wayne, IN.

The Product Engineer Intern (PEI) is responsible for supporting a Product Engineer creating custom product designs to meet customer expectations. In order to understand and support the design recommendations, the PEI will be require to interface with the TSS sales team utilizing listening, problem solving and sales skills. In support of sales team, the PEI may be responsible for interfacing with the Product Test Lab, the Material Test Lab, and or FEA specialist.

In order to design a product that optimizes TSS commercial goals, the PE will be required to interface with SCM and manufacturing to make sure that the design specifications are manufacturable in the most efficient process possible.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

* Support the preparation of Rubber, Plastic and Metal component designs for internal and external manufacturing resources as a result of a Customer Request.

* A detailed manufacturing drawing complete with dimensions and tolerances

* Interface with suppliers/purchasing for materials, components and manufactured product.

* Interface with suppliers on tool design and tool manufacture sources, capability and cost.

* Support Quality System accreditation

Education and Experience:

* 2 years into BSMET/BSME degree or equivalent essential.

* Proficiency in 3D CAD Package essential.

* Proficiency with oral/written communication skills essential in the English language.

* Project management skills essential

* Elastomer/plastic processing and tooling knowledge desirable

* Experience in the science of hydraulics and Fluid Dynamics desirable

* Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage projects with attention to detail and accuracy while meeting targeted completion dates

* Strong customer focus and understanding of total customer satisfaction

* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

* Strong analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
