Role DescriptionThe Arcadis Structural Team is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer (PE) with strong project‑management expertise to support our Northern Ohio and Southeast Michigan offices. This role is ideal for candidates living in Toledo, Cleveland, Akron, or Detroit, MI. As a subject‑matter expert, you will provide technical leadership, guide project teams, and collaborate directly with clients. You will play a key part in delivering high‑quality municipal and industrial wastewater projects while supporting business development efforts to expand our client base and strengthen our regional presence.
A nationally recognized technical team will support you, and you will apply your structural design and construction engineering expertise to drive successful project execution from concept through completion. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement that may also include travel for project and client visits within the United States.
Role Accountabilities- Organize and conduct structural‑related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work within a well‑defined scope.
- Lead the development of calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents.
- Work directly with engineering disciplines, office/project staff, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project life cycle. Demonstrate clear oral and written communication skills, coordinate meetings, conduct client presentations, and prepare written reports.
- Exercise judgment on work details, make preliminary selections, and adapt engineering alternatives.
- Manage the production of engineering and construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates.
- Act as Engineer of Record, Task Manager, or Project Engineer on projects, managing budgets and schedules, leading deliverables, and coordinating plans, permit checklists, and scopes of work for timely completion.
- Mentor entry‑level and junior structural engineering staff.
- Travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, planning, or construction oversight, depending on project needs.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience, including supervision of elements of large, complex municipal and industrial water and wastewater projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- History of leading and mentoring internal teams, with a strong ability to develop effective positive relationships with external stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Functional knowledge and experience with AutoCAD/REVIT software.
- Strong structural analysis and design skills (including software such as STAAD Pro, RISA, etc.).
- Excellent working knowledge of all building codes and standards, such as IBC, ACI, AISC, etc.

CompensationSalary range: $105,000 - $155,000. Actual salaries will vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
