Joining Collins Aerospace is a journey to redefine aerospace technology. The role manages engineering development and program execution of FPGA and Board Support Package (BSP) software for Collins Aerospace Mission Systems.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, allocate resources, develop personnel, conduct performance reviews, manage salary planning, and overall group management of FPGA and SW engineers.
- Direct project execution and lead the engineering team, managing project risks/issues and elevating them to upper management.
- Work directly with FPGA and SW engineers, project engineering, program management, and supporting organizations to develop FPGAs and BSP SW solutions for military products.
- Adhere to Collins process methodologies, ensuring commitments to project financial and schedule deliverables and quality requirements.
- Guide and lead development processes, form team composition, and provide training.
- Coordinate with systems engineering teams on requirements identification, development, and acceptance testing of software deliveries.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in FPGA and/or BSP software.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- Experience managing multiple programs and development tasks while supporting cost and schedule objectives.
- Proficiency in all product development phases: concept, initial planning, Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), final qualification testing, and factory transition.
- High‑level understanding of systems and hardware development.
- Experience with bid narrative write‑ups and parametric estimation tools such as SEER.
- Strong process background, including Agile development concepts.
- Experience with Dev Ops concepts for automated build/test/release of FPGA & BSP SW solutions.
- Sound decision‑making, communication, networking, and forecasting project work and costs.
- Configuration management strategies using Subversion, GIT, or similar.
- Embedded operating systems experience (Linux, Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks, LynxOS).
