Position: Secondary Level Office | Assistant Principal | Anthis Alternative High School | 2026-2027 SY

Starting the  school year Administrator - School Year Schedule PURPOSE

Serves as an educational leader who supports instructional services necessary to educate all students to high standards. Ensures all students meet Indiana’s Academic Standards and that school operations align with federal, state, and district standards, requirements, laws, and regulations. Provides leadership in student supervision, discipline, instructional support, data analysis, and school improvement efforts while fostering positive behavioral change and strong partnerships with families and the community.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid Indiana teaching license and administrator license for assigned grade levels
  • Documented knowledge of district-used data systems and the ability to analyze and synthesize data
  • Effective public speaking, de-escalation techniques, PBIS, fiscal management, and creative problem-solving practices
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in providing instructional leadership for the school and support proper implementation of the District instructional framework. Coordinate educational functions including instructional practices, curriculum guidelines, and instructional materials.
  • Oversee student discipline functions at the assigned school site. Support faculty and staff in interpreting discipline data and implementing effective classroom management strategies. Assist with student supervision, expulsions, and manifestation determinations.
  • Collaborate with comprehensive high schools to support students and families transitioning in and out of the alternative program.
  • Support the success of every student, including those with credit deficiencies, emotional needs, and behavioral needs, by developing and implementing a shared vision for teaching and learning.
  • Plan, organize, and assist in directing school operations, including curriculum and instructional programs, discipline processes, and emergency procedures.
  • Promote the success of every student by acting with integrity, fairness, and ethical leadership. Demonstrate active participation in district cross-functional teams and initiatives.
  • Implement and support de-escalation strategies and restorative practices to address behavioral challenges, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for all students and staff.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to Code of Conduct, attendance, failure rates, common assessments, balanced scorecard metrics, and other required reports.
  • Address and respond to stakeholder concerns and manage emergencies in collaboration with the building principal and/or district leadership.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Unit Head to meet the needs of the building or unit and contribute to district cross-functional goals.

  • Mobility: Freedom to sit or walk at will throughout the work environment.
  • Strength and Stamina: Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to twenty (25) pounds or more.
  • Outdoor Work: Tolerance of work outside in various weather conditions.
  • Working Conditions: School-based assignments with possible travel between buildings. Frequent interactions with students with significant behavioral needs. May involve supporting students in crisis situations in accordance with FWCS guidelines.
