Employer Consultant – Ivy Tech Community College
The Ivy+ Career Link Employer Consultant provides leadership for workforce training initiatives and business and industry partnerships to advance the development of and enrollment in college‑ready programs for business and industry. Aligns vision, strategy, short and long‑range goals, and the operating requirements to ensure workforce programs meet the changing needs of our students, community, and businesses. Serves as a strategic partner to develop deep, collaborative partnerships with area employers to understand their specific market and individual training, education, and workforce pipeline needs.
The position reports to the Vice Chancellor of Ivy+ Career Link and works closely with Talent Connection Manager, Community Engagement, Apprenticeship, K–14 staff, and other campus leaders to develop work plans aligned with college metrics and to ensure services and programs meet or exceed customer expectations.
Major Responsibilities- Collaborate with Program Managers, Deans, Department Chairs, faculty, and workforce teams to design and deliver non-credit workforce training aligned with employer needs and institutional priorities.
- Implements demand‑driven, voice‑of‑the‑customer (VOC) processes to co‑develop workforce programs and solutions.
- Utilizes data from the Department of Workforce Development and other agencies, along with customer insights, to align programs with current and emerging workforce needs.
- Responsibilities include marketing, enrollment, data management and analysis, and assisting with program design and development.
- Monitors and responds to demand‑driven workforce needs and skills gaps within key economic sectors of the campus service area to inform workforce alignment, development, training, and education efforts.
- Establishes, maintains, and strengthens collaborative partnerships with employers by providing consultative services focused on their workforce needs. Actively listens to employer feedback to fully understand and address training and talent pipeline challenges.
- Collaborate with the workforce team to build and communicate a shared vision to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participates in local business and economic development organizations to deepen market and community knowledge and strengthen relationships with employers and community partners.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for public and private entities seeking information, resources, and solutions related to workforce training and development.
- Supports K–14 pipeline initiatives, Achieve Your Degree (AYD), apprenticeships, and other workforce pathways to create seamless employer connections.
- Identifies, secures, and manages public and private funding sources (state grants, workforce ready grants, employer contributions) to support workforce training initiatives.
- Collaborates with K–14 leadership to promote dual credit, youth options, open houses, and campus events across service‑area school districts to strengthen the workforce talent pipeline.
- Shares relevant employer information and contacts with the Ivy+ Career Link team and campus partners through Salesforce, and regular workforce team meetings.
- Works with the marketing department to promote and non‑credit educational services for business and industry in coordination with academic affairs.
- Participates in ongoing training, education, and professional development to remain current with workforce trends and job‑related competencies.
